Coy

011 coy

011 “Coy” Acrylic on MDF, 7″ x 5″

My grandpa used this shaving mug and straight razor in the 1920s. Toward the end of the 1930s, he switched to a “safety” razor, but kept the mug. He had lost one eye as a boy, but was still the most sought after baseball pitcher in the county till he was nearly 60 years old. Great guy.

007 “Lemonade Raku” 6 x 6 inches, acrylic on MDF

My kids’ mom became happily involved in making pottery — raku in particular — and left hundreds of small and attractive pieces of pottery which were freely distributed to friends at her memorial service in January, 2012. In addition to the smaller pieces, she also built drums in ceramic which she played with her Drum Circle.

006 “Kitty on Thonet Chair” Acrylic on MDF, 7 x 5 inches

Actually, it IS pronounced with a hard “t” —”thon-et” (like sonnet) although most people say “thoh-nay.” Mr. Thonet was German-Austrian, not French. This is chair model #18 (my favorite) for the collectors amongst you.

005 “White Tulips” 7 x 5 inches, acrylic on MDF

This is the second painting of this handful of flowers. I got them at half price, so doing only one painting of them seemed like it would negate my savings. Somehow.
